Can forestry be a solution to climate change and the looming biodiversity crisis? It can be.
At COP26 BTG Pactual Timberland Group joined leading experts from the forestry, finance and conservation communities to discuss new approaches to conservation, forest management, restoration and the circular bioeconomy. These new solutions can significantly enhance the contributions that forests, and climate-positive forest products, can make to two of the biggest threats facing humankind, while also supporting local communities and livelihoods.
The event was co-hosted alongside The Nature Conservancy and Conservation International. Special thanks to Johnathan Pershing, Deputy Special Envoy for Climate at the U.S. Department of State, for providing introductory remarks. Thanks also to Tom Hodgman, Bronson Griscom, Charlotte Kaiser, Agustin Silvani, Anand Roopsind and Susan Cook-Patton, Ph.D. for providing your insights on science and finance, and to Kelvin Alie and Chris Webb for leading the discussion with Mark Wishnie.
